Synergistic Monitoring System via LiDAR and Visual Sensors for Detecting Wildlife Intrusion

Although unmanned warehouses have been widely applied, there are problems originating from the intrusion of wild animals, which leads to the damage of equipment and goods. To address this problem, we propose a synergistic monitoring system based on LiDAR and visual sensors. Specifically, the LiDAR sends the coordinates of the detected intruding object to the visual sensor, the visual sensor captures the area where it is located based on the coordinates, and the object recognition algorithm detects whether there are wild animals in the area, making it possible to realize the intrusion detection of wild animals through their collaborative work. Experiments show that our proposed system balances accuracy and real-time performance. The system improves the overall security of unmanned warehouses and effectively reduces the potential threat of wild animals to equipment and goods.
