Efficient Media Delivery: AWS Cloud and the Art of Adaptive Bitrate Streaming

The exponential growth in online video content consumption has underscored the need for high-quality video streaming experiences, spanning both Video on Demand (VoD) and live streaming. In response, our research presents a sophis-ticated video streaming solution that harnesses Amazon Web Services (AWS) and adaptive bitrate streaming. This combines cloud infrastructure with cutting-edge algorithms and techniques, providing a seamless and adaptive video streaming experience to users across diverse devices and network conditions. This research outlines the core components and methodologies of adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR) algorithm for VoD and live streaming that adjusts video quality dynamically based on network conditions. It also explores the use of HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol, video encoding and transcoding via AWS Elemental MediaConvert, content delivery through Amazon CloudFront, and real-time adaptive streaming for live events. The proposed solution focuses on enhancing user experience by ensuring video playback adapts to real-time network conditions and device capabilities, whether for on-demand content or live events. By addressing challenges in delivering video content over the internet, we offer a practical solution that meets the demands of today's digital landscape while preparing for the evolving expectations of tomorrow's viewers.
