Speed Fluctuation Suppression for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives Using Dynamic Surface with Tracking Differentiator

Dynamic performance and smooth speed are crucial indices for high-performance traction systems in e-mobility applications. To achieve better tracking performance and stronger anti-disturbance performance for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives, the combination of backstepping control and sliding mode control has been utilized in the speed controller. However, backstepping control requires the derivative of the virtual control law, which can lead to a differential explosion. This amplifies measurement noise and speed fluctuation, thereby reducing energy efficiency. To address this issue, the dynamic surface control using the tracking differentiator (DSCTD) is constructed in this article to make the control law smoother. Additionally, the traditional backstepping control fails to ensure the robustness of the system. The high-frequency switching term is introduced to enhance robustness in the face of uncertainties and disturbances. Considering the filter error, the overall stability of the system is analyzed through the Lyapunov function. Finally, extensive experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving motor control performance and reducing speed ripple.
