Job Mapping of Graduates of the UPI Fashion Design Education Study Program: Linearity Analysis and Career Determining Factors

This research aims to describe (1) the latest data on graduates of the UPI Fashion Design Education Study Program, consisting of the number of graduates, the number of graduates who are working, the number of graduates who are not working, and the number of graduates who are continuing their studies; (2) comparison of the number of graduates of the UPI Fashion Design Education Study Program who work according to the line of study program with those who do not suit their skills; (3) comparison of the number of graduates who are working, the number of graduates who are not working, and the number of graduates who are continuing their studies; 4) factors that influence graduate career choices. This research was conducted using survey techniques and processed using statistical calculations. The population that was also used as a sample in this research were all graduates of the UPI Fashion Design Education Study Program with the last 3 years (graduates in 2021, 2022 and 2023) as the sample. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to all predetermined samples. The collected data was analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques and processed using the software for data calculation. The research results showed that there were 140 graduates in the period 2021–2023, with details of 45 people (graduates of 2021), 39 people (class of 2022), and 56 people (2023 graduate). The difference in the number of career choices for Fashion Design Education graduates recorded in 2024, there are 111 people (79%) who are working, 22 people (16%) are not / are not working, and 8 people (5%) are continuing their studies. The career distribution of graduates who work includes 89 people (80.1 % ) working linearly with a skills program, and 22 other people (19.9%) not linearly working with a skills program. The ratio between the number of graduates who work linearly with expertise and those who work non-linearly with expertise is 4:1, where the dominant career taken by graduates of the UPI Fashion Design Education Study Program is Clothing Industry Workers (Fashion Designer, Pattern Maker, Fashion Marchandising, etc.), Entrepreneur in the Field of Finance, and as a Teacher. The results of the research can help study programs to determine strategies in lectures or assist in the career aspiration guidance process for fashion design graduates in the career selection process.
