Development of Tracking and Backward Tracing System for an Automotive Parts Using Optical Character Recognition Technique

The automotive parts manufacturing industry is fiercely competitive in response to the ever-changing consumer demands. This has led to an increasing diversity of products, it leads to growing difficulties in tracking and tracing defective products back to the manufacturing process. Therefore, this research aims to develop a tracking and backward tracing system for auto-parts products using image sensors to capture product labels on packaging boxes. The captured images will be converted into text using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technique. Subsequently, the converted data will be integrated into a program to display various packaging statuses on a screen and store packaging data in a database. The results demonstrate the effective usability of the developed system.
