The Overview of Higher Vocational School Teachers' Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Competency: A Preliminary Study from Bibliometric Review and the Perspective of Teachers and Students

In the context of the digital economy, information and communication technology (ICT) competency is a crucial 21st-century competency for higher vocational school (HVS) teachers to cultivate digital talent. However, research on the ICT competency of HVS teachers in China is still underdeveloped. This study aims to identify research gaps in this field for further research. Through this bibliometric analysis, researchers identified that there is limited research on undergraduate level vocational schools (ULVS) teacher. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ULVS teachers and students in Guangdong Province, China, to understand their perspectives on teachers’ ICT competency and its framework development. The study concludes that developing an appropriate ICT competency framework among ULVS teachers is urgently needed.
