Research on optimization of energy storage configuration for electric driven ships

In response to the limitations of fuel cells and the imperative to enhance the stability of electrically driven ships’ power systems, this study proposes a composite energy storage system integrating lithium batteries and super-capacitors. Employing MATLAB/Simulink, a simulation model was constructed, demonstrating the system’s reliability and stability as a ship power source. Furthermore, the system functions as an effective energy storage unit, mitigating power fluctuations from fuel cells and stabilizing DC bus voltage. To safeguard the energy storage units and achieve coordinated control, we developed a power allocation method based on enhanced droop control and filtering algorithms. Additionally, an improved gray prediction model was employed to design a flexible fuel cell control strategy adaptable to various navigation conditions. Simulation results, conducted using MATLAB/Simulink, validate the efficacy of the proposed energy management control strategy. Overall, our findings indicate that the hybrid system’s energy management control strategy effectively stabilizes load power fluctuations, bus voltage, and extends the service life of fuel cells, lithium batteries, and super-capacitors.
