The impact of interdependence patterns of non-equilibrium interdependent networks on network robustness

Interdependence patterns play a crucial role in determining the robustness of interdependent complex networks. In this study, we investigate the impact of different interdependence patterns on network robustness within non-equilibrium interdependent networks. Specifically, we construct two non-equilibrium interdependent network models: the Gas-Power network (with backward interdependence) and the Course-Ability network (with forward interdependence). We analyze their network robustness under three interdependence connection patterns: random interdependence, correlated interdependence, and disassortative interdependence. It is found that the disassortative interdependence pattern enhances the robustness of backward interdependent networks, while the correlated interdependence pattern contributes to higher robustness in forward interdependent networks.
