Research on modelling and control strategy of motor thermal management system for pure electric vehicles

To maintain motor and motor controller within reasonable operating temperatures and optimize performance and service life, developing an effective control strategy for the motor thermal management system (MTMS), incorporating an electronic pump, fan, and radiator, is crucial. Investigating different control strategies in pure electric vehicles, a Simulink/Simscape model of an electric drive cooling loop was developed, simulating real-world vehicle application. Comparing On-off and Model predictive control (MPC), MPC demonstrates superior temperature control and energy savings.
