Numerical simulation study on temperature field of aircraft exhaust flame based on Fluent

The numerical simulation of the temperature field of the tail flame of an aircraft is a prerequisite for its infrared imaging simulation and an important reference for the study of infrared stealth performance.This study uses the Standard $\mathrm{k}-\varepsilon$ model to numerically simulate and calculate the temperature distribution of the aircraft’s tail flame at different flight speeds and altitudes, and analyzes the simulation results.Firstly, the MultiGen Creator software was used to create a three-dimensional model of the external flow field of the aircraft’s tail nozzle and flame. Secondly, Fluent meshing software was used for mesh partitioning. Finally, Fluent 2022R1 software was used to numerically simulate the temperature field of the aircraft at different flight speeds and heights by changing the boundary condition settings. The experimental results show that as the flight speed increases, the area and length of the core area of the aircraft’s tail flame continue to increase, the temperature of the core area of the tail flame continues to decrease, the distance between the highest temperature in the core area and the tail nozzle continues to increase, and the overall shape of the tail flame flow field becomes more stable. As the flight altitude increases, the temperature in the core area of the aircraft’s tail flame continues to decrease, and the highest temperature in the core area slightly increases from the tail nozzle.As the flight altitude increases, the temperature in the core area of the aircraft’s tail flame continues to decrease, and the highest temperature in the core area slightly increases from the tail nozzle. The decrease in temperature in the core area and the increase in distance from the maximum temperature to the tail nozzle make it difficult for infrared detectors to accurately locate the specific position of the aircraft, which provides important technical support for avoiding enemy infrared detection and tracking. Therefore, increasing the flight speed and altitude of the aircraft is more conducive to the infrared stealth of the aircraft.
