Estimation of PMSM Rotor Position and Speed Based on Low Resolution Switched-Hall Sensors

Using low resolution switch type Hall position sensors to estimate the rotor position and speed of permanent magnet synchronous motors, achieving high-performance control of permanent magnet synchronous motors - vector control, is a compromise solution between high-precision position sensors and sensorless methods, which can effectively reduce the cost and volume of the system and ensure its reliability. This paper first analyzes the common hall sensor estimation methods, and proposes an improved one-order algorithm, which compensates the initial speed of the sector at the time of commutation, and effectively improves the accuracy of the estimation in the start-up phase. Then combining the proposed method with the senseless Luenberger observer, a hall velocity feedforward unit orthogonal phase-locked loop is proposed to extract the rotor position and speed information, and a second-order generalized integrator is designed to dynamically filter the back EMF, which effectively improves the difficulty of starting in the traditional senseless mode, reduces the torque ripple, improves the control performance, and makes the control system have the fault tolerance ability. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is verified by simulation and comparative experiments.
