Maximum Torque Optimization of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor based on Model Predictive Control

In recent years, model predictive control (MPC) method has become one of the research focuses in the control field of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Aiming at the situation that the reluctance torque cannot be fully utilized when the rotor magnetic circuit is asymmetrical, this paper proposes a method based on MPC to control the maximum output torque of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). In this method, the PI controller of current loop in traditional Field-Oriented Control (FOC) is replaced by MPC controller to realize the real-time maximum torque output of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The MPC model selects dq axis current as the state variable and dq axis voltage as the control variable. By analyzing the following relationship between the stator current and the electromagnetic torque, the cost function and the corresponding weight coefficient are designed. Finally, the minimum cost function is solved to optimize the control system. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) control method, the proposed method can not only achieve the maximum torque output, but also have stronger robustness when the motor parameters are uncertain.
