A Novel Low-VSWR and Ultra-Wideband Loaded Bow-Tie Antenna System for Ground Penetrating Radar System

In ground penetrating radar (GPR) system, the antenna carries effective radiating and receiving of electromagnetic waves. Its working performance directly affects the detection result of the system and is the key part of the whole system. In order to meet the detection requirements and improve the detection accuracy of the radar system, the antenna has Ultra-wideband (UWB) characteristics, excellent Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and portable size. Based on the traditional bow-tie antenna system, a low-standing wave ultra-wideband bow-tie antenna system is optimized in this paper. The antenna structure parameters are optimized and special absorbing materials are loaded. The antenna bandwidth reaches 135MHz-2.62GHz, the relative bandwidth reaches 180.3%, and the center frequency standing wave ratio is reduced to 1.03. In the detection target frequency range, the reflection signal interference is greatly reduced, and the detection accuracy is greatly improved.
