Switched Parameter Estimation Based Adaptive Attitude Tracking Control of Uncertain Aircraft Control Systems

This paper proposes an adaptive control scheme based on an improved parameter estimation strategy to achieve zero static error attitude tracking control for uncertain aircraft control systems. A new parameter estimation strategy is developed that can automatically adapt to different levels of signal richness, thereby enhancing the sensitivity in adjusting parameter estimation errors. It demonstrates accurate parameter estimation in high signal richness scenario, while also ensuring sensitivity to estimation errors in low signal richness scenario, thereby minimizing the estimation error. Specifically, a parameterized model is firstly constructed, based on which a new parameter estimation strategy is then developed to estimate all uncertain aerodynamic parameters of the aircraft control system. Afterwards, an adaptive attitude tracking control law is designed to ensure system stability and attitude command tracking with zero static error performance guaranteed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive control scheme is verified by using a high-fidelity F-16 system model.
