Design of portable 3D measurement system based on line laser vision

Three-dimensional measurement technology is extensively utilized in various industries and professional sectors. This article introduces a cost-effective and portable line laser three-dimensional measurement system aimed at overcoming challenges like bulky size, high expenses, and limited portability often found in traditional measurement systems. The system integrates monocular vision technology with line laser scanning technology to swiftly and accurately measure distances between objects without physical contact. The line laser three-dimensional measurement system includes four key components: image acquisition, image processing, model calibration, and distance calculation. By using the Zhang Zhengyou calibration method to acquire camera intrinsic and distortion parameters, and employing the gray centroid method to extract the center of laser stripes, the system calculates the three-dimensional coordinates of the laser stripe center in the camera coordinate system. Next, the system uses the vector cross-product method to fit the three-dimensional coordinates of the laser stripe center in the camera coordinate system and derive the light plane equation. The RANSAC algorithm is introduced to improve the fitting accuracy of the light plane equation. In terms of experimental validation, the article thoroughly showcases the versatility of this method in scanning and measuring various objects. Experimental results show that the system performs well with high measurement accuracy. In summary, this solution provides an affordable, effective, and convenient option for three-dimensional measurement applications.
