Numerical simulation and experimental research of cavitation water jet impacting titanium metal

In order to explore the surface modification mechanism of cavitation water jet on titanium metal, this paper combined the characteristics of organ pipe nozzle and self-excited oscillation nozzle to design a composite nozzle. By combining numerical simulation with experimental research, the cavitation water jet flow field generated by composite nozzles is simulated numerically by different inlet pressure and cavitation target distance, and the submerged cavitation water jet is verified experimentally. The results show that cavitation water jet treatment significantly improves the surface properties of titanium. Inlet pressure, cavitation target distance and cavitation impact time have great influence on the surface modification of titanium metal. The best inlet pressure is 25MPa, the best cavitation target distance is 20mm, and the best cavitation impact time is 20min. With the increase of cavitation impact time, the surface wettability of titanium metal increases first and then decreases, and the surface microhardness increases first and then decreases.
