Performance Evaluation of SmartBrain for Real-Time Imaging in Free Movement

Background. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a vital medical imaging tool for studying in vivo metabolism. However, conventional PET system are limited in their inability to image during free movement. Therefore, we have developed a portable brain PET system for real-time imaging, which names SmartBrain. In this study, we evaluated imaging performance of SmartBrain. Methods. The SmartBrain used 192 detectors and the detector consists of a 6 x 6 LYSO crystal $\left(3.1 \times 3.1 \times 5 \mathrm{~mm}^{3}\right.$) array with $3 \times 3$ SiPM array. We evaluated the physical performance of SmartBrain according to the NEMA NU 2-2018 standards. In addition, we performed ${ }^{18} \mathrm{~F}$-FDG imaging in smaller Hoffman and mini Derenzo phantom. Results. Spacial resolution is 2.0 mm in center of FOV. The sensitivity was $3.943 \mathrm{kcps} / \mathrm{MBq}$. Additional, the SmartBrain showed the structure of Hoffman phantom and high resolution for separating 1.7 mm rods. Conclusion. The SmartBrain still can clearly showed brain structure, which is fit to clinic brain research.
