Research on the Structural Design, Operating Characteristics, and Heat Dissipation Mechanism of Magnetic and Hydraulic Hybrid Couplers

Magnetic coupling has the advantages of fast response and high transmission efficiency. Hydraulic couplers have disadvantages such as slow response and large power loss due to slip. Based on the complementary advantages and disadvantages of the two, this article integrates the design of magnetic coupling and hydraulic coupling and proposes a hybrid coupling of magnetic and hydraulic coupling (hereinafter referred to as “hybrid coupling”). Firstly, use SolidWorks 3D design software for structural design; Then, a finite element model of magnetic thermal fluid coupling was established for simulation using ANSYS Workbench software; Finally, perform numerical calculations on the temperature changes and output torque of the hybrid coupler, Obtain the temperature and torque changes of the copper rotor of the hybrid coupler. The results show that the maximum operating temperature of the hybrid coupler decreases from 99.17 °C to 75.70 °C and the operating torque increases from 101 N·m to 350 N·m under 900 r/min operating conditions. It has the characteristics of increasing the transmission torque per unit volume and reducing the heat output, thereby reducing the temperature rise and promoting efficient heat dissipation.
