CircuitLib: A Case Study of Spin-Off e-Business in Embedded and Electronic Systems Development

In this study, the business model of a Spin-Off pilot e-Business activity in embedded and electronic systems development was presented. The proposed e-Business innovation is based on utilizing the existing know-how of the partners, producing innovative and exportable products, and using new ICT technologies. CircuitLib's dominant mission is to create a global people community with common interests in electronic systems technology who will combine their knowledge to make an open-access electronic circuits e-library. The main idea concerns the development of a web-platform serving research, study, design and electronic innovative systems implementation while supporting at the same time the provision of e-Library and online store services. CircuitLib introduces innovation by offering know-how that is freely accessible to the public, setting up a global people community with common interests, exchanging ideas, and using the advantages of online networking. The proposed web-platform aims at attractive, affordable products, exclusivity, as well as the possibilities that ICT give to such a type of business, such as fast service (e-service) and the provision of uninterrupted technical support through customer communication lines (email, chat, web chat, e-forum). The proposed Business Plan includes a complete SWOT Analysis, a Competition Analysis, and an Analysis of the individual BMC building blocks for the sustainability of the e-Business activity.
