Modular Cascaded Multi-Level Inverter for Single Phase Solar Generation

The development of the conventional power system into a green grid has led to the massive deployment of solar generation. A lot of big solar plants have been installed to operate with grid-connected operation. But to reduce further carbon traces it has to be deployed at local load centers even better if installed as a rooftop system for individual residential loads. For this efficient inverter with modular topologies is required. This work presents the 11-level modular cascaded multilevel inverter topology for single-phase solar generation useful in rooftop applications. The conventional cascaded structure requires a large amount of switching devices when operated for a higher level of voltage generation. The proposed structure has reduced the complexity of the cascaded structure and the switch count is also lower.
