Modeling and Simulation of Hybrid PV-Wind-Battery Stand-Alone Generation System

As the power generation by conventional methods became sporadic, renewable energy sources gained popularity as an alternative source of electrical energy. The generation of wind and photovoltaic power has increased dramatically in the last few years. In this investigation, as an alternative to traditional electrical energy sources like thermal and hydropower generation, a hybrid energy system has been suggested that combines solar panels and wind turbine generators. To track the operating point at which maximum power can be forced from the PV system and wind turbine generator system under continuously changing environmental conditions, a straightforward and economical control technique has been proposed. Comprehensive simulation results that determine the system's viability are provided, along with a description of the full hybrid system. The battery used in the model is charged by the excess generation that is stored as energy for later use. When there is a load deficit, the demand is met by the battery. The energy reserve and charge level of the battery are tracked and shown. According to the study's findings, a centralized control system that maximizes the use of renewable energy sources can effectively regulate the microgrid's operation. The results emphasize that to optimize the integration of renewable energy sources, efficient control strategies are required. MATLAB/Simulink software is used to create a simulation model.
