Modeling of Power Factor Correction for On-Board E-Vehicle Charger

The transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles underscores the growing reliance on electronics. As more and more household and industrial gadgets require AC-DC conversion. The process of rectification results in very low power quality, with a power factor drawn that is less than 0.5. In order to minimize losses and increase efficiency, it is necessary to keep the power factor in close proximity to unity. In this study, we have attempted to integrate the rectification procedure with a unity power factor and boost converter. We implement voltage regulation and power factor correction using continuous current mode control circuitry in a 360W hardware prototype.
