Modeling and Implementation of Autorecloser in Radial Power System and Microgrid

This research paper introduces an auto-reclosing mechanism for radial power system and microgrid using MATLAB simulation. The system is designed to swiftly detect and disconnect the power supply in the event of temporary or permanent faults, minimizing damage to the transmission line. In response to prevalent power system failures in India, caused by faults like Line-to-Ground (LG), Line-to-Line (LL), and Three-Lines to Ground (3LG), a fault detection and tripping mechanism becomes crucial. This proposed automated tripping mechanism provides a reliable solution to protect power systems from temporary faults. It was tested on Microgrid system and 3 phase radial power system. Simulation results demonstrate accurate fault detection and efficient mitigation, offering in conventional radial system. However, due to no feature of closing with synchronism check, the microgrid power system become unstable after successful auto recloser operation. This approach gives first holds promise for enhancing the resilience of electrical transmission line in both conventional and microgrid tied system, minimizing downtime, and reducing damage caused by unforeseen faults.
