Comparison of HDD and SSD Read/Write Performance

Hard drives include hard Disk drives (HDD) and Solid State drives (SSD). In general, the read/write speed of SSD is much faster than that of traditional HDD. The read speed of SSD can generally reach 400M/s. The read/write speed of an SSD is 3–5 times that of HDD [1]. This means that applications can be loaded, files are read, and data is transferred faster when using SSDS. The performance of the device is higher. Under different data block sizes, the read/write speeds of SSDS and HDDS are different. This paper focuses on the study of the difference in read/write speeds of 24 SSDS and HDDS in 12 service scenarios. It is found that the read/write performance advantage of SSDS with small data blocks is greater than that of large data blocks, especially in the scenario where the data block is 8K and the read/write ratio is 80%.
