Enhancing Usability of Learning Management Systems through Personalization

The paper focuses on personalizing the Learning Management System (LMS) interfaces using users' personality traits to enhance the LMS usability. Utilizing K-means and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the study analyzes Big Five Personality Traits (BFT) data to identify the most dominant and influential trait within the dataset. Two mobile-based interfaces are designed: one personalized for the identified trait and one neutral to be a control variable. Usability is assessed using System Usability Scale (SUS) test, revealing the superiority of the openness interface over both the neutral and traditional desktop based LMS. Moreover, the ANDVA test confirms the significant difference in usability scores. Additionally, qualitative insights from user feedback complement the quantitative findings, indicating satisfaction with the personalized interface and the transition of LMS to mobile-based. The research emphasizes the importance of interface personalization based on users' personality traits to enhance usability and meet students' evolving needs.
