Automatic Placement of PCB Functional Modules Based on Regional Division

The placement of printed circuit board (PCB) functional modules presents unique constraints, which pose great challenges for automatic placement algorithms. In consideration of the modular nature of PCBs, we propose an automatic placement method for PCB functional modules based on regional division. Our work involves the following steps: (1) Constructing and analyzing a model of PCB functional module placement; (2) Dividing the placement area and assigning priority to components; (3) Utilizing the relay-race algorithm (RRA) to achieve rapid convergence of the placement algorithm. Experimental results from industrial cases demonstrate that our method can effectively enhance the efficiency of placement operations and achieve better wire length for nets while meeting the specifications for PCB functional module placement.
