Ring Resonator-Shaped 2D Photonic Refractive Index Based Sensor to Detect the Diabetes Cells Using Monolayer MoS2

The two-dimensional photonic sensor has a strong potential for the detection of biological analytes using human fluids. However, scrupulous attention is still required to improve the quality performance of the existing 2D photonic sensor especially in the case of biological sensing. Therefore, in this proposed work, we have designed a novel microring resonator-shaped 2D photonic sensor using monolayer MOS2 to detect diabetes cells from tear samples. The FDTD method has been employed to estimate the transmission spectra and field intensity for the proposed sensor at 1550 nm. Furthermore, the numerical investigation has been used to calculate the sensing parameters such as sensitivity (S), quality factor (Q) signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the limit of detection (LoD), resolution (R) and found to be 3748.13 nm/RIU, 1231.90,
$\mathbf{0.2041}\times \mathbf{10}^{-\mathbf{04}}$
, 183.73, and 0.277 nm, respectively. The characteristics graph between refractive index (n) and variation of quality factor (Q) and FWHM have been analyzed. The obtained results are compared with the available values.
