Considering the Impact of Electric Vehicle Charging Harmonics on Distribution Network Losses

This study examines the impact of electric vehicle (EV) charging harmonics on distribution network losses. It analyzes the harmonic characteristics of EV chargers and develops a harmonic calculation model considering grid voltage variations. Using the IEEE-33 node system, the research simulates harmonic current effects at different EV penetration rates, revealing that charging stations degrade voltage quality and increase losses, particularly at higher penetration rates and in close proximity to the station. The findings are crucial for optimizing EV integration and network planning.
