Modeling and Simulation of Hub Motor Driven Electric Heavy-Duty Trucks Based on Cruise

Hub motor drive is a new development direction for future heavy-duty vehicles. A power system matching method for heavy-duty vehicles has been proposed. The design objectives for the performance of a single hub motor and the demand parameters for the power battery were calculated by combining the vehicle parameters, power performance, and economic indicators of a heavy-duty truck driven by hub motors. On this basis, AVL Cruise software was used to model the basic parameters of the vehicle, reducer, hub motor, power battery, and simulation was conducted to obtain that the power performance (maximum climbing speed, maximum acceleration time, maximum speed) and economy (energy utilization rate) of the hub motor driven heavy-duty truck meet the design requirements.
