Abstract:

This study relates to the assessment of an ICT network infrastructure of a large university. The study seeks to identify weaknesses, improve performance, enhance security, and ensure the infrastructure aligns with current and future needs. Included in the study areas were the inventory and documentation of the major components of the ICT system, performance evaluation, adequacy, security assessment, and topology assessments. A carbon footprint evaluation was conducted to assess the carbon signature of the carbon signature of the ICT process.The inventory along with network topology assessment aims to determine the reliability and security vulnerabilities. For the adequacy, a total of 290 respondents were surveyed to among them were teaching and non-teaching personnel. A carbon footprint equation was used to calculate the footprint of the network. Based on the findings of the assessments, an action plan for the network was developed. A rehabilitation plan for the Server Room and its component were also included.
