Wearable Antenna for 5G WBAN Applications

This design aims to develop a dual-band wearable antenna suitable for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) and 5G applications. Operating between 2.7 GHz to 3.8 GHz and 3.9 GHz to 4.7 GHz, the antenna supports 5G bands while ensuring compatibility with WBAN systems. Utilizing ANSYS HFSS, the design process involved mathematically calculating antenna dimensions and optimizing its performance parameters. A flexible Polyamide substrate enabled wearable applications, while using Microstrip Line feeding and a self-grounding structure enhanced antenna performance. Dual-band functionality was achieved through a slot structure and specific gap sizes, ensuring efficient operation across both frequency bands. Incorporating a self-grounding structure extended the antenna's bandwidth, enhancing overall performance. Negative return loss indicates maximum power transfer efficiency, with any negative shift in frequency signifying improved electrical properties. SAR values were calculated to ensure compliance with safety standards, confirming the antenna's safety for human interaction. Simulations assessed performance under bending conditions, showing consistent return loss behaviour, demonstrating robustness for wearable applications. These design features ensure optimal performance for WBAN and 5G applications, providing users with reliable connectivity and communication capabilities.
