Wideband Circular Patch Antenna Using Partial Ground Plane for S Band Mobile Applications

The demand for compact and efficient antennas for wireless communication systems has been escalating with the rapid advancement of technology. Circular patch antennas have emerged as a popular choice due to their compact size, low profile, and omnidirectional radiation pattern. This paper outlines the development and enhancement of a circular patch antenna radiation behavior tailored for broad-spectrum wireless communication applications. The design process begins with the selection of appropriate substrate material and dimensions to achieve the desired operating frequency. The proposed circular patch antenna is simulated using electromagnetic simulation software to analyse its radiation pattern, return loss, and bandwidth. The circular patch antenna has a resonant frequency of 2.6 GHz with return loss values less than 10 dB from 2.14 GHz till 4.5 GHz frequencies with a wideband operation of 2.36 GHz. The designed circular patch antenna offers promising performance characteristics suitable for a wide range of wireless communication applications in S band frequency spectrum.
