A Frequency Isolator Design For 5G-FR2 Bands

This article presents a frequency isolator for 5G-FR2 bands. It is based on a Ro4003C plate loaded on a periodic transmission line and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) with multiple vias, creating free space directional radiation at high frequencies. Therefore, the frequency isolator insertion loss is less than 1 dB in low frequency. Isolation is better than 30 dB in high frequency. The primary functionality of this isolator is to address the DC offset produced from the junction between an amplifier and a mixer. These attributes position isolators as crucial components in 5G communication systems.
