Lightweight Symmetric Key Encryption to Improve the Efficiency and Safety of the IoT

IoT is a potential future technology that will link billions of things. In IoT applications, security is crucial, yet several encryption rounds might waste device resources and energy. A more simplified approach is needed here. One alternative is to use a simpler encryption technique that balances security and computing performance. A 64-bit block cypher requires a 64-bit key for data encryption. This technique uses Feistel cypher and uniform substitution to substitute network simulation, assuring strong encryption. This technique delivers significant security with only five rounds of encryption, according to research. The proposed work implements a symmetric key lightweight technique for secure picture and text transfer. To protect data, the system uses picture encryption and reversible data concealment. This study has various benefits over previous algorithms. First, it computes quicker, making it ideal for resource-constrained IoT devices. The algorithm's simplicity boosts energy efficiency and device performance. Lastly, its greater Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) indicates better picture quality retention during encryption and transmission. Symmetric key cryptography works for many picture formats. An appealing graphical user interface has been created for a real-time picture capture system. This comprehensive approach assures that the algorithm fulfils IoT application security criteria and improves usability and practicality, creating a safer and more efficient IoT environment.
