Intensity-Interrogated Hot-Wire Anemometer Based on Cobalt-Doped Fiber Bragg Grating

An intensity-interrogated optical fiber hot-wire anemometer with a cobalt-doped fiber (CDF) based fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed. The CDF-FBG is sandwiched between two single mode fibers and is heated optically by using a 1480 nm laser. Experimental results show sensitivity of -648.23 nW/(m/s) at airflow velocity of 0.1 m/s and a measurement range of 0–8 m/s.
