Cadmium Sulfide Coated Micro-Nano Fiber Optic Sensor for Ammonia Gas Sensing

Cadmium sulfide coated micro-nano fiber optic sensor has been developed for measuring trace amounts of ammonia gas. Cadmium sulfide is obtained by chemical precipitation method and is dripped onto the surface of the tapered fiber. When the sensor is placed in an environment containing ammonia, ammonia molecules will bind with cadmium sulfide, thereby changing the relative refractive index of the surface of the tapered fiber and causing a redshift in the interference spectrum. The experimental results show that the ammonia sensitivity of the sensor is 10.88pm/ppm. Additionally, the sensor has good selectivity.
