Dielectric meta-platform for Mid-IR enhancing applications

Mid-Infrared spectroscopy plays a pivotal role in modern analysis of organic and inorganic compounds. However, traditional IR spectroscopy faces limitations with analyte concentration. Techniques like Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) and Surface Enhanced InfraRed Absorption Spectroscopy (SEIRAS) attempt to overcome this problem by enhancing light-matter interaction. While they offer improvements, bulky ATR systems and ohmic losses in metal-based SEIRAS hinder their applicability and performances. All-dielectric metasurfaces can tackle both problems thanks to their lossless nature and subwavelength dimensions. We propose and numerically design a novel all-dielectric metasurface working in the Mid Infrared (Mid-IR). The metasurface’s performance is investigated by evaluating both Q factor and near field enhancement. Our design allows for control over resonance position and linewidth, while also achieving significant near field enhancement. Additionally, the design is compatible with photolithography, making it a practical platform for enhancing mid-IR spectroscopy.
