Poled Fibers for Nonlinear Photonics: Recent Advances and Future Perspectives

Thermally poled silica fibers are characterized by nonnull second order effective nonlinear susceptibility and can consequently be exploited for the generation of parametric processes usually prohibited, such as for example second harmonic generation or parametric down conversion. In this work we present their most recent applications, which range from high harmonics generation to implementation of all-fiber optical parametric oscillators and discuss future perspectives of a technological platform that we still consider reliable in the scientific area of Nonlinear Photonics.
