Unveiling the Nonlinear Optical Potential of N719 Dye-Based Thin Film

This article investigates the nonlinear optical properties of thin films composed of N719 dye embedded within a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix at varying concentrations. The surface morphology and topography of the films were analysed using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), revealing distinct trends in surface roughness corresponding to different dye concentrations. Additionally, Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) and Third Harmonic Generation (THG) measurements were conducted to characterize the nonlinear optical behavior of the films. The results indicate a correlation between dye concentration and nonlinear optical response, with higher concentrations showing enhanced nonlinear effects. Despite differences in SHG signals, all samples exhibited significant third-order nonlinear susceptibilities, highlighting their potential for nonlinear optical applications. These findings contribute to the understanding of N719 dye-based thin films and offer insights for their utilization in optoelectronic devices and nonlinear optical technologies.
