Software-defined control of integrated QKD and classical optical networks

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) ensures secure communication through quantum mechanics principles, countering potential threats posed by quantum computers to classical encryption schemes. However, integrating QKD with existing optical network infrastructures presents challenges. This contribution outlines the design, implementation, and testing of a software defined networking (SDN) based framework to effectively control both QKD and classical optical networks.
