Abstract:

Energy security issues and environmental concerns are leading to a rapid increase in the use of renewable energy sources. It is important to mention that despite their many advantages, the integration of renewable sources into the power grid is a challenge. Integration of renewable sources into the power system may contribute different impacts such as the level of short circuit currents. This paper analyzes the impact of wind turbine park (DG) on the level of short circuit currents. Different types of faults that occurred at different nodes are analyzed in the existing electrical networks. For calculations and simulation of short circuit currents, DigSilent PowerFactory software package has been used, with which the turbine park has been modeled for the simulation and calculation of fault currents. The results show the integration impact of the wind park in short circuit currents.
