Development of Robot Cell with SCARA Robot for Handling Motor Stators

The process of design and development of an automated robotic cell is presented in this paper. The existing process was automated by designing a machine for de-stacking full trays, with motor stator housings, and stacking empty trays. The role of the selective compliance assembly robot arm (SCARA) robot is to pick the stator housings from full trays and mount them on the carriers that are moving on a conveyor belt. For the pick and place task, the appropriate robot gripper was designed. Also, the control system for the robotic cell was designed, after which the programming of the robot and the programmable logic controller (PLC) that controls the operation of the cell were carried out.
