Ultra-wideband Tapered Slot Antenna with Phasecorrecting Dielectric Lens Loaded

An ultra-wideband (UWB) tapered slot antenna with dielectric lens loaded is proposed. Despite their wide bandwidth and cost-effectiveness, traditional Vivaldi antennas often suffer from a discernible imbalance between gain bandwidth, return loss bandwidth, and high directional pattern bandwidth. In this letter, by analyzing the phase shift properties of substrate materials, an antenna design is proposed without increasing its radiating arm length. Such a design realizes a remarkable UWB impedance bandwidth spanning from 0.6 GHz to 20 GHz. By loading a dielectric lens, a significant gain enhancement of up to 4.7 dB is achieved from 12 GHz to 20 GHz. Such gain enhancements elevate the antenna's performance, making it exceptionally suitable for broadband direction-finding systems, UWB spectrum sensing systems, and other high-gain demand applications.
