Destination Earth Core Service Platform's Initial set of use Cases

Destination Earth (DestinE) is a flagship initiative of the European Commission (EC) to develop a highly accurate digital model of the Earth to model, monitor and simulate natural phenomena, hazards and related human activities: (a) monitor and simulate the Earth’s system developments (land, marine, atmosphere, biosphere) and human interventions; (b) anticipate environmental disasters and resultant socioeconomic crises to save lives and avoid large economic downturns; (c) enable the development and testing of scenarios for ever more sustainable development. In the frame of this initiative, Starion Group has been awarded by the European Space Agency (ESA) with an 18 month project to identify use cases for the European Commission’s Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative. The selection and implementation of the initial set of end-to-end use cases has the objective of demonstrating the capabilities of the DestinE infrastructure, in particular, the DestinE Service Platform (DESP) being developed by the European Space Agency (ESA).
