The Spatiotemporal Evolution and Driving Forces of Land Use in Shenzhen City of China from 1976 to 2020

High spatiotemporal resolution multi category land use data is crucial for research on regional ecological environment changes, urbanization impacts, and sustainable development planning. Currently, among the publicly available data products, global multi category land use products with higher spatial resolution only provide single or short-term data, making it difficult to reflect the interannual changes of fine land features over a longer time span. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal evolution patterns and driving factors of land use in Shenzhen city using well prepared annual land use change dataset LUC-GBA (Annual Land Use/Cover of the Greater Bay Area) with a resolution of 30 meters from 1976 to 2020. From 1976 to 2020, there were significant changes in land use in Shenzhen, with a particularly significant increase in impervious surfaces, reaching an increase of 824.95 km
²
, an increase of 76.2 times. Shenzhen's urbanization rate also increased from 0.51% in 1976 to 39.47% in 2020. The above results indicate that the LUC-GBA dataset can effectively reflect the land cover distribution and interannual dynamic evolution of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area at a spatial resolution of 30 meters, providing reliable data support for surface land process research and related applications.
