Knickpoint Distribution within Fluvial Networks of Indian Himalayan Region

Knick zones are considered as great signature for understanding underlying geomorphological setting of any landscape, as they are formed under various factors like weathering, erosion, tectonic, climatic and glacier activities. Owing to lack of any prior study, this study aims to builds a dataset of knickpoints distribution across the mighty Himalayan region of India using a 90 m digital elevation model (DEM). Around 42815 knickpoints with heights of 50 m or more, are identified along the Himalayan ranges. Geospatial datasets of slope, drainage density, rainfall distribution, river basin and geological setting of the region are prepared and analyzed for better understanding of the distribution of the knickpoint.
