Error Characterisation of the TU Wien Soil Moisture Product Using the Bootstrap

This paper discusses the implementation of the bootstrap technique for computing the standard error of the soil moisture estimates of the TU Wien soil moisture product. The bootstrap errors are compared, for a variety of land covers, with the standard errors obtained via the traditional error propagation approach, which has been used in the disseminated soil moisture products, and an alternative error propagation approach.
