A Distributed Approach for Detecting and Mitigating DDoS Attacks on White-Boxes

The emergence of white-box routers has brought a significant shift to networking and cybersecurity. These routers are well-known for their adaptability and programmability, allowing them to provide a diverse approach to network security and routing. This paper looks primarily at how white-box routers can fight versus distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) assaults. Our framework detects and mitigates DDoS assaults using whitebox routers and machine learning-based detection and mitigation modules.The relevance of dataset selection and real-time traffic analysis is emphasized in the study. Experimental tests confirm its effectiveness while maintaining network performance. Whitebox routers provide a practical solution for enhancing network security due to their tailored security, open standards-based systems, and adaptable hardware. In summary, this research underscores the potential of white-box routers as a cornerstone of modern cybersecurity strategies. They enable adaptive and resilient network security, addressing the challenges posed by evolving cyber threats.
