Magnetohydrodynamic Induced Separation in Liquid Filled Magnetic Gaps of Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Motors

An intriguing phenomenon has been observed following an extended test validation run of a permanent magnet motor with liquid filled magnetic gap. There were noticed traces of localized deposits on both ends of the shaft and corresponding discoloration areas on the carbon fiber-PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) sleeve of the permanent magnet rotor. We propose a magnetohydrodynamics, electrochemical model. The forensic tests performed on the deposits show a high level of consistency with the proposed model.
