Water-Cooled Free Rare-Earth Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor - Design and Practical Implementation

The paper presents the design and practical implementation of a series of permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motors. Aspects such as design characteristics, electromagnetic simulation, LAB analysis, efficiency investigation, and testing bench presentation during different manufacturing steps are discussed. The motor benefits from free rare earth magnets, and to increase the efficiency and to maintain imposed geometrical specifications, the water-cooling thermal design was selected. Experimental verifications of testing the motor class proved the validity of the proposed machines.
